Hatchet 3 movie review (by Decker Shado)

Wiki Article

Hatchet 3 is the Hatchet's horror film from 2013. It follows the ongoing adventures of Victor Crowley's adventures in Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp, as well as his brutal murderous rampage. Kane Hodder portrays Victor Crowley while Brian Quinn plays Deputy Winslow. Rileah Vanbilt plays Misty.

The movie's special effects are the film's biggest strengths. Hatchet 3 uses a majority of practical makeup effects and sets. This is different from the majority of horror films nowadays that heavily rely on CG effects. The film also has some really horrifying moments.

Kane Hodder is a standout among the cast, and he's an intimidating villain. It's like an '80s slasher movie, with the dialogue being a bit too tongue-in-cheek and campy. There are some funny moments that stand out in all the heart-wrenching scenes.

However because of the small budget (reportedly only $1 million) many locations used are re-used from earlier films in the series--the same boat (blog) house was used two times within the movie and much of it feels like it's been recycled from other films in this franchise. Hatchet or Hatchet II may be able to recognize it as familiar, which can lead to the film feeling almost too familiar.

Overall, Hatchet 3 was a good series overall. There was plenty of gory thrills, and there were some great performances from the actors.
